Indigenous Infographics make complex information eye-catching, shareable and easily digestible.
Indigenous work is something I have done for over 20 years now. Guumali is based in the Northern Territory and works collaboratively to harvest opportunities that support indigenous communities to build.
Social Ventures Australia commissioned a large poster to help explain the moves communities and Government are making for the people of the desert areas of Central Australia to embrace a lot of their traditional ways of working with the land that they traditionally understand so well. The limited ochre colour palette also reinforced the colours of the land.
Poster for the community of Groote Eylandt, Northern Territory. This illustration documents the traditional owner’s vision for Groote Eylandt after the mining leaves in about 10 years time. The local river winds it’s way through the narrative of the story.
The Barngarla Nation near Whyalla on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula commissioned a lively poster highlighting the local indigenous attractions found only in that area of Spencer Gulf. Coming originally from Whyalla myself, I had not known of many of the Dreamtime stories and physical locations of them until accompanying the local elders on an enlightening sight seeing tour. Tourism tours are now available.
